Yesterday it was announced that MedTrackAlert, the Louisville company that delivers e-mail newsletters on health topics to opt-in audiences, was acquired by The HealthCentral Network.

J Gumbo’s to Get Former Papa John’s President?
Business First is reporting that Dan Holland, former president of Papa John’s, might become the new CEO of Gumbo Development LLC. Might is the key word in that sentence but the fact that a conversation is taking place is big news for the J. Gumbo’s franchise. That they’re talking to such a big name, with such a big franchise history means they’re serious about growth plans (including looking to expand to more than 50 stores from the current 9 within the next year).

Let’s Tweetup
There’s a new monthly gathering in town called “Let’s Tweetup.”
Let’s Tweetup is a free, monthly get-together for Twitterers in the Louisville, Kentucky area.
Why a tweetup?
There is a vibrant social media scene emerging in Louisville. And with so many Twitterers in the metro area, we felt like it was time to get everyone together in person.
The first get-together is this Thursday night, June 12, 2008 at the Fox and Hound from 6PM-8PM. There’s going to be some door prizes, other giveaways and I’ve heard a rumor about free drinks for the first few people that arrive. Don’t quote me on that last part though.
I, naturally will be there, hope you say hello.

Big Developments for Forecastle and Havana Beverage
I won’t take credit. No, no, I’ll just chalk it up to coincidence that I recently blogged about both Havana Beverages and Forecastle Festival and now they both have big partnerships to announce.
Havana Beverages has inked a deal to have the company’s products distributed regionally by Sysco. This should get their drinks potentially into a lot more hands.
Forecastle Festival has landed backpack and collegiate gear behemoth Janspost as a major sponsor.

Green Consulting Firm Launches in Louisville
I got a press release for a new consulting firm opening in town. Consulting firms are a dime a dozen of course but this one is focused on sustainability and “green consulting.”
Claude and Chas Stephens, the founders of Generation 14, are 7th generation Louisvillians, and the current heirs to land held by their family since 1790. They can clearly see how past decisions affect the present, a concept which served as the inspiration to form Generation 14, an environmental consulting company with a mission to help businesses make strategic decisions that will support a healthy and prosperous community. By providing a comprehensive set of consulting, education and marketing services, Generation 14 guides each client to identify, develop, implement, monitor and profit from its unique sustainability opportunity. Carbon reduction management, conference and event greening, LEED™ consulting, identification of tax incentives and employee training seminars are just a sample of the specific services Generation 14 provides for businesses who want to create and implement sustainable strategies that are based in sound science and business principles.

Over the weekend Profilactic announced they had partnered with Ping.FM to allow Profilcatic users to post to 11 social networking sites silmutaneously. This is a cool leap forward in Profilicatic’s feature set.
We are very pleased to announce that we have partnered with Ping.fm to allow our members to post content to 11 social services from within Profilactic.
If you’re not familiar with Ping.fm, what makes their service super cool is that you can post to all 11 of those social services *at the same time*. So if you want your Twitter friends and your Facebook friends and your LinkedIn connections to know that you’re “sitting in my car at the Atlantic Ocean with my napping son reading Harvard Business Review and eating cotton candy,” you can do it with our “Post something” tool powered by Ping.fm.
The list of services currently supported are: Bebo, Blogger, Facebook, hi5, Jaiku, LinkedIn, LiveJournal, MySpace, Pownce, Tumblr and Twitter.
