Metro Mapper for the Win!

by Michelle on March 28, 2008

Congratulations go out to Metro Mapper. We’d mentioned Metro Mapper’s entry in the N2Y3 contest and encouraged you to vote for the startup in the final round. You and other votes placed Metro Mapper’s expansion plan into the top 21 during the final round of voting. According to Metro Mapper’s Michael Schnuerle:

This means that the expansion of Metro Mapper is going to happen.

We’ll keep you posted on further developments. We’ll be heading to San Jose for the conference May 27-28 to present our ideas in more detail. That’s when funding and resources will be determined.

What exactly is going to happen at this conference?

The Featured Projects will be invited to attend this year’s NetSquared Conference (N2Y3) on May 27 and 28 (just after Memorial Day). The Conference will be held at Cisco Systems’ Vineyard Conference Center in San Jose, California. Cisco Systems has been our generous host for the previous two NetSquared Conferences.

At the Conference, Project Teams will have an opportunity to display and discuss their mashups, and attendees will vote to select the top three. All 21 Projects at the conference will receive a share of $100,000 in prize money. The share will be determined by voting at the Conference.

Congratulations Metro Mapper and good luck in San Jose. We know you’ll do great.

Thanks to Forge for profiling the call to vote and to everyone who went through the voting process. NetSquared hasn’t revealed the vote totals yet, but I’m pretty sure that every single vote made a big difference! The Louisville startup community has done a lot to support Metro Mapper in this effort.

Is any one else in Louisville having T1 (Speakeasy) problems? Mine has been down since around midnight last night and I’m still waiting on Bell South to pay me a visit. Hmmm…I’m thinking that last nights storm had something to do with it. But why only my DS1? Grrr….

Has anyone read The New Yorker article by Malcom Gladwell on the frequency of big ideas? If so, what’d you think?
